Cet ouvrage expose l'une des methodes utilisees pour l'estimation de l'effet de l'interaction des failles. Ce phenomene peut etre provoque par le transfert des contraintes a la suite du glissement sur un plan de faille lors d'un seisme important. Dans le but de realiser des modeles de la variation de la contrainte statique, nous avons developpe un code de calcul qui permet d'obtenir, a partir d'un modele constitue de plusieurs segments de faille, la variation de la fonction de rupture de Coulomb (Coulomb failure function, CFF) soit sur des failles 'cible' selon une direction de glissement donnee, ou sur des plans de faille optimaux en tenant compte du tenseur de contrainte regional. La theorie qui permet l'obtention de ces modeles est exposee et des applications pour tenter de rendre compte de la repartition spatiale des repliques et de leurs solutions focales dans le cas du seisme de Chleff (El Asnam) du 10 octobre 1980 sont effectuees. Un exemple sur l'interaction des failles est illustre a travers le seisme de Zemmouri du 21 mai 2003, pour lequel la variation de CFF est calculee dans le cas des failles 'cible' de la Mitidja, du Sahel et de Thenia.
